I’ve been struggling
How we help
Sometimes guys need extra help if there’s something in their life they really want to change.
If you’ve got a bunch of hassles you’re uncomfortable with and need a hand sorting them out, then our counselling service might be the go. Maybe you’ve already had a go at fixing things yourself and just need some extra advice. Maybe you just need someone to talk to who’s not your teacher, your boss or your mum or dad.
Our counsellors are approachable, friendly and able to talk to you about any issue that’s on your mind, such as:
- Getting a job or the stress of learning a new job
- Hassles with teachers or students at school
- Bullying
- Anger and violence
- Your parents are ‘just not getting it’
- Loneliness
- Money worries
- Issues with alcohol and other drugs
- Potential addictions like porn and gambling
- Relationship hassles – especially with family, mates or a loved one
- Trying to stay away from crime or people involved with crime

What we actually do
Our counsellors are not trying to “get in your head” and make you feel uncomfortable with lots of awkward questions. They’re not going to judge you, and they’re certainly not interested in telling you what to do.
In the first session, the counsellor will get to know as little or as much about you as you want to explain.
They will also work with you to understand what you want to achieve in the session.
One visit may be enough to meet your needs, but more are available to ensure you feel capable of navigating your own journey.
We help you identify
- What is working in your life?
- What are your strengths?
- What other resources are available to you that can help?
Once you know this, we can help you work out how to use these strengths and resources to influence areas in your life where things aren’t working so well.
We believe that change is always possible. To make the changes you want, we help you work out what you really value in life, and then create goals that are based on those values.
What does it cost?
All services at Menslink are provided at no cost to the young men or their families.
There are no fees or charges, they’re confidential and available to any young bloke aged 10-25.
