Menslink accepts referrals from any agency, government Directorate, school, medical practitioner or other professional who deals with or supports young men aged 12-25 in the Canberra region.
To make a referral, please complete a referral form to provide us with some background on the young man and his situation. (Have a read through our programs first to ensure we are the best fit for the young guy).
How to make a referral
Menslink Mentoring is available for young men aged 13-18. Menslink Counselling is available for young men aged 12-25.
Please ensure that your referral fits within these parameters.
The young man must also agree to join the programs (or at least be considering them) otherwise we cannot accept the referral.
If you’re satisfied that this is the case, simply complete the online referral form and we’ll be in touch within 2 business days.
If you’re unsure or have questions, please contact us.
Once we’ve received the referral, a Menslink team member will call the young man or parent/carer to arrange an initial meeting. We will keep you updated on the progress of the referral, as long as we have the ongoing consent of the young man (and his guardian where necessary).
Sometimes we may not be the right fit…
While we make every attempt to help young men and their families, we are also conscious of our own capabilities.
Sometimes a young man is experiencing challenges that requires specialist or professional services that Menslink does not have. Examples may include: sexual abuse trauma, serious mental illness or impairment, chronic alcohol or drug addiction, crisis support (including homelessness or domestic violence).
Menslink is also unable to provide direct financial or other support to young men outside of our main programs, regardless of the adversity in their lives. However, Menslink will always attempt to assist any young man in need, even if that assistance means referring him or his family to the best agency or specialist service provider able to help.
