Gryphons Caffe & Bar, 16 Barker Street
Griffith, ACT 2603 Australia

This Midweeker will be held in loving memory of the ever resplendent Rhys Summergreene. Rhys Summergreene sadly lost his battle with Stage 4 Cancer in January, Menslink wanted to take the the opportunity to honour and remember him and his contribution to our organisation on the date he was supposed to deliver his own Midweeker. Rhys was a respected and loved Businessman from Peter Blackshaw Real Estate. He was a local Canberra man who dusted himself off after a business relationship fell apart, only to learn shortly after that he had a highly aggressive form of Cancer. Rhys was known for his philanthropy, fundraising and long standing, distinguished career in property. He found great reward working with ‘A Cure for Freyja’, The Cancer Council, Red Cross, Menslink and many other foundations, all whilst fighting his own illness. Rhys injected his own brand of humour when telling his story and he employed his own unique strategies to overcome depression in its many forms. Come hear Rhys’ story, as written by him and told by those who loved him most. Midweekers are available to women and men of all ages who want to come and listen to inspiring stories from our local men, as well as to understand some of the key issues facing young guys in our region. You don’t have to be a guy to come to a Midweeker – just interested in supporting young guys and their…

Gryphons Caffe & Bar, 16 Barker Street
Griffith, ACT 2603 Australia

Ben Henderson probably never imagined that a mosquito would be the cause of his toughest battle. That an insect would threaten his mountain biking career and leave him bed ridden, unable to do anything on his own. Ben Henderson was riding for a spot at the 2012 London Olympics when a mosquito bite quickly halted his riding career. While racing on Malaysian island Langkawi in 2011, Ben was bitten more than 50 times and contracted the Chikungunya virus and Epstein-Barr virus. The rare disease left this elite athlete bed ridden for six months and Ben battled chronic fatigue for a further two years before being able to ride competitively again. Ben’s attitude of 'whatever doesn't kill you makes you stronger' has seen him go on to run a half marathon. Midweekers are available to women and men of all ages who want to come and listen to inspiring stories from our local men, as well as to understand some of the key issues facing young guys in our region. Entering his fifth year with the Raiders, Co-Captain Josh Hodgson experienced the toughest off season of his life in 2018, tragically and suddenly loosing his brother. Josh is using his experience as drive to do more, to do better and to honour his brother after his passing. https://www.playersvoice.com.au/josh-hodgson-little-brothers-pledge/#QiAdsJDsps4iTDm2.97 Midweekers are available to women and men of all ages who want to come and listen to inspiring stories from our local men, as well as to understand some of the key issues facing young guys in our region. To most, Damon Smith is the General Manager of Construction at Geocon, Canberra's largest residential builder. His presence on a construction site causes a flurry of activity and he is never backward in coming forward. But those who know Damon outside of his professional life, know of his generosity, good humour and story telling ability. Damon's formative years were likely not what most would imagine them to have been; but his tenacity and resilience have seen him succeed beyond probably what he had ever imagined possible. Damon has faced more than his fair share of trials on his journey, unbeknownst to those outside his inner circle.
