Joe is the eternal optimist. He lives in the glass half full world where we can influence our lives and enjoy ourselves. That isn’t saying things haven’t been hard now and then though.
Today Joe is the Chief Officer of the ACT Rural Fire Service and also the President of Dragon Boat ACT, a volunteer role. Both of these keep him very busy but, with the support of family and friends, he gets through it.
Joe has had a long employment history with Emergency Services, starting with the ACT SES in 1988, then joining the, then, ACT Fire Brigade in 1989, into emergency communications in 2011 and RFS since 2016. As a frontline member of the emergency services he has seen and done things that nobody should, but that is the nature of the job.
As busy as he is, Joe makes time for family, friends and sport and he puts the key to getting through the day down to those.
Midweekers are available to women and men of all ages who want to come and listen to inspiring stories from our local men, as well as to understand some of the key issues facing young guys in our region. You don’t have to be a guy to come to a Midweeker – just interested in supporting young guys and their families.
Hopefully we can see you there…
