What would you do if you knew that all it took was one simple question to start a conversation which could save someone’s life? Are you Okay.
The R U OK? movement and organisation was started in Australia in 2009 by Gavin Larkin, to honour his father and to protect other families from the pain he endured after his father committed suicide. In a cruel twist of fate – Gavins’ life was ended by cancer only 2 years later in 2011. But the spark he had ignited with R U OK? fired up an organisation whose mission now is to inspire and empower Australians to meaningfully connect with people around them and support anyone struggling with life. RUOK? is now known for RUOK? Day which is a nationally recognised day of action to encourage and equip everyone to ask someone “RUOK?”.
Today, Brendan Maher continues the work of the organisation in his role as CEO and is supported by a talented and committed team, well-known ambassadors, and highly skilled board. Join Brendan in a conversation and hear from him as he shares his own story about helping to create massive change in the lives of so many Australians with a simple question.
